Veterans Invited to Local Expo

Posted by Denyse Shannon on

Getting Information out to veterans of any age is the plan behind an expo next week. Delta College will host the Veterans Expo in conjunction with the Great Lakes Bay job fair on Wednesday September 13th beginning at 10 am. Local veterans and their families are encouraged to attend. Andrew Ornelas is Veteran services coordinator and says “we basically want to reach out to them and show them what’s out there for them as far as health benefits, education benefits. There’s a lot of organizations that offer a lot to veterans we probably don’t think they know of. We’d love for them to get out here and see what organizations can provide support for whatever they might need.”

Ornelas says there are over 20 organizations who will provide information on healthcare, employment and educational benefits for veterans. He says veterans looking for work can join in a job fair beginning at 1 pm that will feature some 60 employers. Ornelas says there will also be an ROTC group participating for those veterans who might want to get back into the service as an officer. He says the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital from Saginaw will also be on hand to answer questions about benefits. For more information contact Ornelas at 989-686-9303.
