Last Updated by Denyse Shannon on

September is Sickle Cell Awareness month and walk this weekend in Saginaw hopes to raise awareness of sickle cell disease. The “Walking by Faith” Sickle Cell Disease walk-a-thon will be held Saturday, September 8th from 8 am to 3 pm at the farmer’s market at 504 S. Washington Street. Walkers are encouraged to solicit pledges to raise funds for the Saginaw Sickle Cell Disease Association. They’ll walk from the farmers market to Hoyt Park and back. Organizer Ben Frazier says that even those who won't be walking are invited to show their support. He says there will also be 50/50 raffles and tee-shirts, along with prizes for the schools with the most turnout. For more information contact Frazier at 989-755-7752 or by email at Frazierb25@yahoo.com..
