Your Action Is Urgently Needed

The White House has issued an Executive Order that will critically affect funding for Delta College Public Media. The order instructed the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which funds public broadcasters in the United States, to end federal funding for PBS and NPR, to the extent allowed by law.

The immediate impact of the order is unclear, but it is not good news for our operation since Delta College Public Media receives about one-third of our annual operating dollars through this crucial federal grant. Funding for CPB is a legislated program authorized in statute and we are proud of the strong bipartisan support we have had in Congress over the years.

Much of what we hear from Washington DC does not reflect the best of what Delta College’s WDCQ-TV and WUCX-FM bring to the Great Lakes Bay Region, each and every day. We believe in the value of public media and the direct impact our stations have in our local communities.

In these challenging times, we are reminded of extraordinary individuals like you who have so strongly supported WDCQ-TV and WUCX-FM over the decades. Your comments remind us that our programming inspires empathy, belonging, understanding, and gives us a unique view of the world around us. It helps us be more connected to each other - a feeling that seems pretty rare these days.

As you listen or view our programs, you often hear that “today’s programming is brought to you by viewers (or listeners) like you!” We all have a stake in saying to Congress, it’s for viewers and listeners like me!

We ask that you take a moment now to reach out to your Congressional representatives to let them know how important Delta College’s public media stations are to you and your family. Delta College will continue to monitor this situation and we will share more details as they become available.
